Skin Care Saturday ~ Ariul Juice Cleanse

**This post contains affiliate links. You can read my affiliate disclosure here.**

Whoohoo it’s the first weekend of the new year! Haha I have no idea why that is “whoohoo” worthy, but I think any weekend is “whoohoo” worthy ūüėČ It is still bitterly cold here, with no relief in sight until Monday, which is perfectly fine with me. The hubs left this morning to go out of town for a few days, so it’s just me and my dogs! My dogs are weird dogs, which really should come as no surprise haha The both refuse to go potty without someone being outside with them. And they have to go outside separately, of course. On top of that, in the mornings, every ten minutes, for at least two hours, one of them¬†HAS to go out. So, not only do I have to stand outside in the bitter, bitter cold for 10-15 minutes, but I have to do it¬†every ten minutes … for two hours. I do love my dogs, but I need them to understand that I don’t have fur!!

Alright, now that the obligatory cold weather gripe is out of the way, let’s talk skin care! I happened upon some really cool sheet masks the other day, and I was kinda of impressed with the ingredients. This is a new-to-me K-beauty brand, and I was really impressed to see an entire display at my local CVS. The brand is Ariul, and this is one of their Juice Cleanse masks, in raspberry and lentil.

First of all, I want to thank this company for sticking English instructions on the back. It can be frustrating trying to figure out if I’m supposed to rinse the left over serum off or leave it on, either of which could affect the overall performance of the mask. Second, anyone else intrigued by the addition of lentils in a skin care product?? From what I can gather, the lentils reduce excess oil production and help to reduce acne flares by helping to re-balance the skin’s pH. Well how about that! Also, this is one of the better fitting sheet masks I have come across in a long time.26655260_10156044045479357_1310741157_o

So let’s talk about the claims. I went to Amazon, because honestly that was just the easiest. The only claim in English, on the packaging, is it’s anti-wrinkle. According to¬†Amazon, this product is 5 Free (paraben, mineral oil, tetraethylammonium, artificial color and cruelty free), reduces freckles and purifies skin, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that can help heal eczema and other skin conditions, it has antioxidant levels 10 times higher than tomatoes, and repairs, reinforces and immunizes the skin with its detox formula. I’m not exactly sure what “immunizes the skin” means, but as long as it doesn’t melt my face off, I’m up for giving it a go!

After cleansing and toning, apply this like you would any other mask. There’s a slight pink hue to the mask, which I am guessing comes from the fruits since it has no artificial colors. There’s also a very faint fruity scent, for those who may be sensitive. It is very, very slight, though. It should be left on for 10-20 minutes, and massage any remaining serum into the skin. This mask stayed put, even when I was sitting upright. I have found some masks really want to slip and slide around unless I am perfectly horizontal, which can be a real pain. Sometimes I want to watch TV while masking, and I had no problems doing that with this one.

I left the mask on for 17-ish minutes and there was a good bit of serum on my face. It was¬†very wet when I pulled it out of the package, so I expected to have a decent amount left on my face. Several minutes after massing the serum in, I noticed that my face felt quite hydrated. It didn’t seem unreasonably sticky, and that faded after the product dried. Did I seem miraculously unwrinkled? Umm … no. I think with any anti-wrinkle product, the effects will happen after repeated use.

That’s not to say I was unhappy with the mask. As I said, my skin felt pretty hydrated. It’s been drier than usual, being winter and all, and I can’t imagine my skin was unhappy with being drenched in antioxidants. It even tells you how many milligrams of each fruit are in the mask! Maybe micrograms … 1,000 milligrams of raspberry and lentils seems like a lot.

I would say give this mask a go! If you cannot find it in your local CVS, you can find it here: Ariul Detox Juice Cleanse Sheet Mask Multipack of 5 - Facial Face Cleansing Mask Packs - Natural Raspberry & Lentil for Elasticity and Vitality, Anthocyanin, Reduce Freckle, Purify Skin(affiliate link)

So what do you guys think? Have you tried this or any other products from Ariul? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Lemme know!

Mid week Mask ~ Too Cool For School Pumpkin 24K Gold Mask

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween! Mine was very quiet, which is just how I like it haha Now, we are fully in the swing of Hallowthanksmas, which is kinda the worst part of the season for me. None of the autumnal holidays have their own space any more. Every year, the stores push for earlier and earlier Christmas displays. I’m not even kidding, the pharmacy I use had Christmas decorations up, in the same aisle with Halloween, two weeks before Halloween! That’s just much too soon. Back when I was a kid, that stuff didn’t come out until after Thanksgiving. Now, that was quite a long while ago haha but there are some things from the ancient past that are worth revisiting.

Want to know what I would prefer to not revisit? The mask I used yesterday. It’s kind of a rare thing for me to¬†not like a sheet mask, but I couldn’t even leave this one on my face for the full recommended time! So let’s just get right into it …

23261770_10155866522314357_256795107_o

I had such high hopes for this cute l’il guy! It smelled fantastic and was full of serum. It came with a backing, I guess to keep it from sticking to itself in the package. I get that idea, but it’s a bit of a pain for me to peel a dripping wet mask off of a backing. I just don’t have the dexterity in my fingers any more to fool with that sort of thing. But, that’s really a minor thing.

The biggest problem for me with this mask was it was absolutely huge on my face! Now, I know I can have a big head at times, but this must have been made for a giant! In all of the fuss with trying to get it to stay on my face, I neglected to take photos. This is really one time when my goofy mask photos would have been quite beneficial. Because it was so large, it had to be folded in places, which means it didn’t make great contact with my face in some areas. That lead to it sliding all over the place, getting in my mouth and eyes. I got so frustrated with trying to keep it in place, that I ended up taking it off and tossing it after about ten minutes. They recommend 15-20 minutes. I’m sure I got¬†some¬†benefit, but not what it could have been.

There was ample serum left on my face, so I patted that into my skin. It took quite a while for it to fully absorb, more than an hour, which I think it a bit on the long side. This mask experience seemed to be one frustration after another. I think if it had fit better, the longer absorption time wouldn’t have bothered me as much. I understand that manufacturer’s need to do their best to make these products¬†one size fits most, and I get that. However, in all of my vast sheet mask experience, I’ve never had one fit so poorly. And the real bummer is this mask was $8 from Sephora, so I can’t even excuse it by saying it was a cheap mask! One final criticism … where the heck was the gold?? The mask itself was plain old white, and there were definitely no gold flecks in the serum. No gold!

Have any of y’all tried this mask? Did you have an equally frustrating experience, or was yours smooth sailing? Lemme know!

Skincare Saturday ~ 7 Wonders Kalahari Melon Moisturizing Mask

Happy weekend, y’all! Well … yesterday was move-in day! We were all completely exhausted, but our girl got all moved in, obscene amount of money spent at Walmart for groceries and last minute dorm items and she’s a happy girl, about to start her sophomore year. I’d call it a successful day. Her university is about 2¬Ĺ hours away, so my hubby and I were totally worn out by the time we got home.

Considering the sort of day I had yesterday, I thought I would go for something quite pampering tonight.

I felt like my skin got a bit beat up yesterday, so I thought a moisturizing mask would be ideal! And it might have been, if this 7 Wonders Kalahari Melon Moisturizing Mask was moisturizing. I left this on a few minutes longer than the recommended 20-25 minutes. I might have gotten sucked into the ending of Rogue One. About an hour has passed since I removed it and my skin is tight and dry feeling. I thought it would smell like melon. I’m not sure what it smells like, but it’s not melon. It’s not a bad smell, kind of neutral, I guess.

Let’s talk about the claims: deeply hydrates skin, smooths rough and dry skin and leaves skin dewy and supple. Unfortunately, it did none of these for my face skin. I don’t think I have hard to please skin. It reacts well to serums, usually. The worst part is I think it may have taken moisture away from my skin! What I mean by that is, my skin felt more hydrated¬†before I used this mask. I have no idea how that is possible, but feeling is believing! I didn’t wash the serum off my hands after I applied the mask and my hands are even dried out! This mask was $6 from¬†Ulta. My recommendation is to spend your hard earned money on something else.

It’s a quick one tonight, but some things just are what they are hahaha Have y’all tried this mask before? What did you think? Lemme know!

Skin Care Saturday ~ Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Super Hydrating

Good evening, friends! Ahhhh … it’s Saturday!! I don’t know what it is about the weekend, but those are the perfect nap days. Days of the week don’t matter much to me, since I don’t work outside of my home. However, there is something so much more satisfying about napping on the weekend! Do ya feel me on this?

Tonight, I thought I wold give the Garnier masks a second go. Seems to me, the first Garnier mask I tried was the pink one, which is the soothing version. I did not like it at all. It left my face very sticky and kinda gross feeling. So, when I was in Walmart the other day and saw the display, I thought I would give another variety a shot. I tried the mask in the blue packaging tonight, and I feel much better about this one.

This mask is incredibly … slimy … when you remove it from the package. According to the website, each mask contains¬†¬Ĺ of a bottle of serum. Whaaaaaaatttt?? No wonder it drips like crazy when I took it out hahaha It didn’t feel all that slimy once I got it on my face though. I have used some sheet masks that drip serum all down my neck, which is not really what I am going for. For as much serum as this contains, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t do that.

20821201_10155650949169357_1809564699_o

I was on the phone with my sister while I was masking tonight. Yay for multitasking! Don’t judge my earphones hahaha … I cannot wear earbuds. They kill my ears for some reason. Anyway …

My timer went off at the fifteen minute mark and when I removed the mask, I was immediately disappointed. My face was super sticky. I followed the directions, and patted the remaining serum into my skin and did not rinse. My face stayed sticky for about twenty minutes, then it magically went away! I guess it takes some time to absorb¬†that much¬†serum. Patience, Carrie … have some patience.

It’s been two hours now, since I took the mask off and I must say, my face feel very hydrated. My skin feels supple, which isn’t a word I often use to describe my face skin. This formulation contains hyaluronic acid and pomegranate extract. For those who may not know, hyaluronic acids decreases moisture loss and can actually attract moisture. YAY hyaluronic acid! Dry skin is a common part of the aging process. In my teens and twenties, I would characterize my skin as oily to normal. In my thirties, it was probably normal. Now, in my early forties, it is normal to dry. I get very dry patches on the top of my cheeks … sigh. My cheeks feel amazing right now, though!

Pomegranate extract in skin care is an ingredient I really dig. As a food, they are chock full of awesome vitamins and minerals, and are considered a super food. Putting that goodness into skin care can only be good. Turns out, it is! Pomegranate extract aids in hydrating, combats inflammation, stimulates collagen production and helps to protect against sun and environmental damage. Pomegranate oil can even help to strengthen the outer layer of skin, which can help delay and even reduce wrinkles. Impressive!

I am glad I gave this brand of sheet mask a second look. Often, with using a sheet mask just once, there isn’t much of an immediate effect. The benefits usually come after using the same mask a few times. Not so with this one. The effect is immediate, and fantastic! This would be an ideal mask to use before an event or special occasion, when you really need your skin to be in tip-top condition. I want to say I paid right around $3. For a product that gives immediate good results, that price is outstanding.

What you do think? Have you had the same experience with this line of sheet mask? Lemme know!
