Try It Tuesday ~ Beauty Creations Blending Sponge

**This post contains an affiliate code**

Happy Tuesday y’all! I’m kind of a subscription box addict. I think I sub to six services … it could be worse, y’all haha One of the services is I sub to is Sol Theory. They are a sunglasses/beauty product box. They have several different options, at varying price points; everything from one pair of sunglasses to sunglasses and beauty products, to sunglasses and jewelry. There are even men’s options! The option I chose is one pair of sunglasses plus beauty products, for $21/month. Some months I’ve gotten three beauty items, some months I’ve gotten six. I’ve been, generally, very happy with everything I have received from them. The sunglasses are very trendy and the beauty products are great!

One product that I thought might be great to talk about is this beauty sponge I received.

It’s from the brand Beauty Creations Cosmetics. I’m always on the hunt for a beautyblender  alternative. As amazing as that sponge is, it’s a bit on the pricey side. When I saw this in my Sol Theory box, I was pretty excited! Looking on the Beauty Creations website, the sponge retails for $3.99. Score! There weren’t really any directions, so I proceeded like I would with my regular sponge. I dampened it and squeezed as much water out as I could.

It swelled to quite a nice size. Sorry I didn’t use anything to accurately show the size! I don’t know what I was thinking, but it did get quite large.

It’s very dense, though, and a bit on the heavy side, which is really a bummer. I don’t know how you blend in your foundation, but I use a bouncing motion. Bouncing using a heavy sponge got to be quite tiring on my arm. I know that sounds kinda crazy. I mean, it’s a sponge! How heavy can it be? I guess I am so used to the lightness of the beautyblender, and this is quite heavy in comparison. It’s also a bit hard on the face. It’s very dense, so when bouncing on the skin, it’s quite hard. Not rock hard, but certainly not gentle, either.

As I was blending, I started seeing black specks all over my face.

I purposely left this photo large, so you could really see what’s going on. Do you see all of that on my face? I couldn’t figure out what was going on until I looked at the sponge. Apologies for photo quality, but you can definitely see the problem …

After maybe five minutes of use, it tore. Seriously??? Sigh … this is definitely one of those instances where you get what you pay for. Granted, mine came in a box, but it does retail for $3.99. I don’t mean to sound snobby, but it’s clearly not even worth that price.

If you happen across this sponge in your beauty shopping, my advice to go the other way, quickly. Not only did it tear up quickly, but it made my face look awful. I get that I am a bit older than a lot of my readers, but somehow that sponge added about ten years to my eye area … ten years I am NOT ready to claim!!

All of that being said about this particular product, I have been extremely happy with my subscription to Sol Theory. If you like sunglasses, beauty products or jewelry, and want to check them out, you can use CARRIEGULL at checkout and get 20% off your first box. Not too bad!

There you have it, y’all! Have any of you used this sponge? Did you get better results? The same? Worse?? Lemme know!

Carrie♥
