Midweek Mask ~ Boscia Luminizing Pink Mask

Happy Hump Day everyone! I hope you all are having a lovely week. I’m going to cross my fingers and hope my tech issues are well behind me now. I finally got my replacement phone from Apple on Monday, and getting everything set up and remembering passwords, etc has taken a bit longer than I thought it would.  I love writing and it was actually my childhood dream to be a writer, and here I am, spreading my words and thoughts literally across the globe! Having technology get in the way of that has been a huge frustration. Ah well … I believe I am over the hump now and I can finally return to blogging on a consistent basis.

So let’s talk about this mask from Boscia. All Boscia products are also available at Sephora. I have become a bit of a Boscia junkie. I am currently testing out two other cool products of theirs to review on here, which should be up next week. They come out with some really innovative and down right cool products. There has not been one product of theirs, that I have tried, that I didn’t like. Not even one that I have been just “meh” about. They have all blown me away, and this mask is no exception.

23468280_10155881426639357_1983266738_o

This packaging is adorable! I dunno why, but I am a sucker for pink packaging, and pink isn’t even my favorite color haha The original mask comes in black, but I just love the pink! I am pretty sure the only difference between the two is the color. There is an ever so slight scent, but I can’t place it. It’s not bad, but it is there. Looking at the ingredients, it might be eucalyptus, because it a bit medicinal, but pleasant. Well, pleasant if you like those types of scents. As I said above, the scent is slight. I kind of like skin care like this to smell a bit medicinal. It gives me the impression that it’s actually doing something, whether it is or not. Eucalyptus is a great herbal, though, and it has the ability to calm redness, which you will see momentarily. It’s also antibacterial and antiseptic, which is great if you are breaking out.

This mask is a bit goopy and comes out of the tube quite readily, which I was not prepared for. Most masks that contain clay are pretty thick, and this one is much thinner than what I’m used to. My bathroom may or may not have looked like an icing incident occurred.

Note how very close in color the mask is to my donut, although I don’t think it tastes nearly as good hahahahaha (please don’t try it to find out haha) I really wish my bathroom had better lighting. I might work on that this weekend, in fact. Everything comes out redder than it really is, and I don’t want to edit photos like these. That just seems unfair.

This mask took a long time to dry down. The instructions say to give it 30 minutes, and I gave it closer to 45 and there were still two spots that hadn’t fully dried, which I discovered when I started to peel. You are supposed to put a thick, even layer on, which I did. The peeling process was … interesting. It sticks to your skin very well. There were videos a while back on YouTube of people putting masks on that very nearly pulled peoples’ face skin off. This wasn’t to that degree, but there were some spots that were a bit uncomfortable upon removal. Definitely avoid your eyebrows and the baby hairs along your hairline. I lost a few because I got too close haha This mask has definite sticking power! I don’t view that as a bad thing, though. To me, a mask like that is really going to clean out those pores.

The first picture is immediately after the mask removal and the second picture I took a few days later. In the first, my face is much brighter, and the redness doesn’t appear to be so bad. I mean, it’s there. Nothing short of a laser is going to remove those broken capillaries. In the second, my skin looks a little dull, so the luminizing aspect 100% works with this product. I have also noticed that my redness since using the mask has been reduced. I wish I would have taken a before photo, but I didn’t notice the eucalyptus until after the fact. To be fair, this is not advertised as a redness reducer, but it has been a bit of an added bonus for me, that has lasted. I can’t say it’ll have that same effect for everyone, but it might.

Alright, y’all, I think it’s obvious how I feel about this one. The price tag is a bit hefty, at $34 for not quite 3 ounces. That’s not chump change. However, there are some things that are worth a heavier price tag, and I just think anything from Boscia is worth that premium. If there was one company whose PR list I would love to be on, it would be theirs. Every thing that comes from them is a hit, and so, so good for the skin. Well, my skin anyway. If you haven’t tried any of their products, check out their website, or Sephora. I have two more products from them that will be in upcoming posts. One will be up this Saturday and one will be up next week. This is definitely a company that produces quality skin care products, without a doubt.

What do y’all think? Have any of you tried this mask? How about any other Boscia products? Lemme know!

Mid week Mask ~ Too Cool For School Pumpkin 24K Gold Mask

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween! Mine was very quiet, which is just how I like it haha Now, we are fully in the swing of Hallowthanksmas, which is kinda the worst part of the season for me. None of the autumnal holidays have their own space any more. Every year, the stores push for earlier and earlier Christmas displays. I’m not even kidding, the pharmacy I use had Christmas decorations up, in the same aisle with Halloween, two weeks before Halloween! That’s just much too soon. Back when I was a kid, that stuff didn’t come out until after Thanksgiving. Now, that was quite a long while ago haha but there are some things from the ancient past that are worth revisiting.

Want to know what I would prefer to not revisit? The mask I used yesterday. It’s kind of a rare thing for me to not like a sheet mask, but I couldn’t even leave this one on my face for the full recommended time! So let’s just get right into it …

23261770_10155866522314357_256795107_o

I had such high hopes for this cute l’il guy! It smelled fantastic and was full of serum. It came with a backing, I guess to keep it from sticking to itself in the package. I get that idea, but it’s a bit of a pain for me to peel a dripping wet mask off of a backing. I just don’t have the dexterity in my fingers any more to fool with that sort of thing. But, that’s really a minor thing.

The biggest problem for me with this mask was it was absolutely huge on my face! Now, I know I can have a big head at times, but this must have been made for a giant! In all of the fuss with trying to get it to stay on my face, I neglected to take photos. This is really one time when my goofy mask photos would have been quite beneficial. Because it was so large, it had to be folded in places, which means it didn’t make great contact with my face in some areas. That lead to it sliding all over the place, getting in my mouth and eyes. I got so frustrated with trying to keep it in place, that I ended up taking it off and tossing it after about ten minutes. They recommend 15-20 minutes. I’m sure I got some benefit, but not what it could have been.

There was ample serum left on my face, so I patted that into my skin. It took quite a while for it to fully absorb, more than an hour, which I think it a bit on the long side. This mask experience seemed to be one frustration after another. I think if it had fit better, the longer absorption time wouldn’t have bothered me as much. I understand that manufacturer’s need to do their best to make these products one size fits most, and I get that. However, in all of my vast sheet mask experience, I’ve never had one fit so poorly. And the real bummer is this mask was $8 from Sephora, so I can’t even excuse it by saying it was a cheap mask! One final criticism … where the heck was the gold?? The mask itself was plain old white, and there were definitely no gold flecks in the serum. No gold!

Have any of y’all tried this mask? Did you have an equally frustrating experience, or was yours smooth sailing? Lemme know!

Try It Tuesday ~ Amika Polished Perfection Mini Straightening Brush

Happy Halloween, y’all! Are you guys ready for the tricks and treats of the evening? We never get trick-or-treaters. Living in the country, I can totally understand that. But, for the twenty years we lived in town, we never got them there, either. We didn’t live in a neighborhood, though, and our road was kind of busy. It wasn’t really convenient for kiddos looking to make a haul. I usually spend this night making an Irish-inspired meal (my heritage is heavily Irish), and honoring the ones who came before me. It’s a night for me to reflect on my ancestors, without whom, I wouldn’t be here. The meal I make is roasted pork loin and colcannon. Nothing fancy, but it tastes amazing.

Nothing fancy actually describes me perfectly. I’m not one to fuss too much with makeup (what??? lol) or my hair. Mostly my hair. I prefer easy, wash-and-go styles. I never blow dry my hair, and I rarely “do” my hair. There isn’t much to do with it, it’s layered and curly haha I have had stylists, over the years, straighten my hair, and I like how it looks, but never had the time or energy to straighten it myself. Holding my arms above my head is excruciating and exhausting. So when I saw this product on Sephora’s website, I was intrigued. The price was $35, so I figured what the heck! Let’s give it a shot.

This brush is the perfect size for me to handle. Basically, you are just supposed to brush your hair, as you normally would. It does say to brush it with a regular hairbrush first, to make sure your hair is tangle free. This is what my hair looks like when I brush it.

23135129_10155860198594357_701356384_o

Haha that frizz! That is my hair’s natural texture. Nice, huh? Thanks, Hair Gods, for bestowing THAT gift upon me hahahaha This is why, in the majority of my pics, my hair is up in a bun. There is NO taming this monster, without a ton of product. I haven’t really found a product that will tame this mane fully, without making my hair feel gross. So, messy buns it is, after day one of hair washing. Now, I have heard that straightening will help tame frizz, so I was excited to see what would happen.

23113306_10155860198489357_1069368224_o

Ta da! Whoa! What a difference!! Now, it’s not super-duper straight, like one would get with a flat-iron, but I am 100% okay with that. This took TEN minutes, of literally just brushing my hair. Ten minutes, y’all! Keep in mind, this is a mini-sized brush. There is still some frizz, but the reduction is incredible! If I would have used product, I imagine the frizz would have been even less. I still can’t get over the fact that this took ten minutes hahaha I have tried using a flat-iron, and it took me at least 30 minutes, and it didn’t look like it should have looked after that long haha Because there are “bristles” that grab your hair, the risk of scorching your scalp, ear, or neck is minimal.

This product is a winner, in my book! As someone who doesn’t like to fuss much with my hair, I can absolutely handle ten minutes worth of “fussing”, if I will get results like this. And for $35?? This one is a no-brainer, y’all. This would be ideal for young girls who are just learning how to do their own hair. As I said above, the “bristles” keep the heat away from the scalp, neck and ears, so little ones won’t be so prone to burning themselves. This product will be a regular part of my getting ready routine, without a doubt.

So what do y’all think? Have you used a straightening brush before? Do you prefer it over a flat-iron? Lemme know your thoughts, y’all!

Pur Cosmetics Mystery Box

Happy Thursday, y’all! Thursday means it’s almost Friday, and that means it’s almost the weekend!! I have no idea why I get excited about the weekend haha With the hubs working seven days a week, and me not working outside of my home, weekends are pretty much irrelevant. They still excite me, though. Speaking of getting excited, PUR Cosmetics recently offered mystery grab bags. If you watch YouTube at all, mystery boxes from eBay, are all the rage. In fact, there are over 10,000 hits for mystery box on the auction site. Wow! Some are complete rip offs, and some are pretty cool. When I got an email from PÜR with the offer, I just couldn’t pass it up!

So here’s the deal … for $25, plus shipping, you got five full size products, plus a mini, and the grab bag is valued at up to $100. I’d say that’s a great deal!! Unfortunately, they do seem to be sold out. They are still hyping it up on the website, so hopefully that means they will be restocking. Alright, let’s get on into the grab bag! **Edit: I got an email this afternoon about ordering a mystery grab bag, so I followed the link and they appear to have restocked. YAY!!! This grab bag contains SIX full sized products, so even better!!

PÜR included just about everything you need to create a full face! Now, let’s take a peek at the look I created with these products:

There are two products that I am not totally in love with. The first is the blush. Even with a light touch, it is just too dark for my very fair skin tone. I think it would be gorgeous on someone with a medium skin tone, though. The second product is the lipstick, which really bums me out. I am a sucker for deep berry lippies, and this one just falls a bit short. It is very glide-y, which causes it to be patchy. Also, it clung to the even the slightest of dry spots, causing those areas to grab more pigment. What may work for this lippie, though, is layering it over a lip liner, or even a matte lipstick for a custom shade. That should help it to stick better, and resolve the patchiness. The other products, eye shadow palette, mascara, eyeliner and makeup brush, are all pretty great! The mini in this grab bag was the mascara. Out of anything that could have been a mini, that’s the best one, in my opinion. The Fully Charged formula is a good formula, don’t get me wrong, but mascara is something I tend not to experiment with. The shadows are nicely pigmented and blend well, and the eyeliner is quite creamy.

I am pretty happy with this mystery purchase and I will be on the lookout for another opportunity to get one. Have you ever purchased a mystery box/grab bag? Was it a trick or a treat? Which companies have you purchased these delights from? Lemme know! I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Mid Week Mask ~ Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding

Long time no chat, y’all! I’m not going to go into a lengthy explanation for my absence, other than to say my health sucks and it’s been a rough few weeks. I hate having chronic diseases, more so when they interfere with the things I really enjoy, and I really enjoy blogging. Needless to say, I haven’t done much product testing over the last few weeks, but the products have been pouring in! I have so many cool, new products that I can’t wait to talk with y’all about!

On one of my many trips to Sephora since they have opened inside my local JC Penny, I used some points and got a sample size of Boscia’s Charcoal Pore Pudding. I think sample sizes of skin care products are the way to go. Boscia is a higher priced brand and if you don’t like it, or it causes a reaction or break-out, it could be a lot of money and time wasted. Luckily, for me at least, Boscia is a wonderful fit for my skin. They have quickly become a favorite, and when it comes to skin care, price doesn’t much matter, within reason. This is our only skin, and taking care of it is of the utmost importance, I think. Unfortunately, I came to that conclusion a bit late in life, so I am playing catch-up.

If you have never seen this product, you are in for a treat!

How cool is that?? One nice thing about this is the directions say that is can be used all over, or just on areas that are giving you trouble. I have used it both ways. I seem to be experiencing some mid-40s sporadic acne, which could well be hormonal related. When I get a pimple, I like to use a clay based mask, and just cover the blemish. I leave the mask dot on overnight, so it has plenty of time to absorb all the bacteria and help to dry it out. Some work better than others, and this is one that works well. It’s not an overnight miracle, but it helps tremendously.

I also like to use clay based masks when my health takes a turn. A lot of toxins are excreted through our skin, and I feel like a clay mask just helps to get the toxins out better than other products. That’s exactly what I did last week. As you all know, my health isn’t the best, and the last few weeks have been particularly rough. I saw this sitting in my mask bin and thought it would be perfect!

22532352_10155819877774357_1468582099_o (1)

Hehe I love making silly faces when I take mask photos. The directions instruct to mix the colors, once on your skin, to create this grey shade. I think a swirled mask would look really cool, but it would be pretty hard to maintain that when spreading it out on your face.

Let’s talk performance! Clay can be quite drying, because it is good at absorbing all sorts of things, but particularly oils. We need our face oils, so using a product that strips them totally can actually cause oily skin. After using such a product, your skin is like “Aw shoot, no oil! I’m vulnerable!” It goes into overdrive to replenish what was lost, and it can really be a problem. That is not the case with this product. In fact, I left it on much longer than the recommended 15-20 minutes, without any ill effect. I seem to get distracted when it’s time to remove these masks haha There are masks that become very uncomfortable as they dry, but not Pore Pudding. This particular one is so comfortable, that it is easy to forget it’s even on! When I finally got around to removing it, my skin felt great! It felt deep cleaned and fresh, without feeling like a desert.

I will definitely be purchasing the full size jar when I use up this sample. I have so many masks to test out, but this will be a permanent addition to my regular skin care regime, for sure! Have you tried Pore Pudding? What is your favorite skin care line? Lemme know!

Makeup Monday ~ Jaclyn Hill x Morphe palette

Happy Monday, y’all! Hope everyone had a restful weekend. Mine was … interesting. My niece spent several days with me, and went home today. Not sure how many of you have five-year olds running around, but getting anything accomplished is a feat I have not mastered hahaha On top of that, I had insane lower back spasms. Sitting upright, for any length of time, was excruciating. Thankfully, I had “recovered”, just in time to get my niece home and run 5,000 errands, including taking my truck back to the transmission shop. I have been dealing with transmission woes since July. I am quite ready to not have any more transmission troubles, or any troubles, of any kind haha

I thought I would talk to you all today about the Jacklyn Hill x Morphe eyeshadow palette today. I know it’s a bit late, but it took forever to actually get my hands on it. To me, there is simply no excuse for them to have run out of stock three or four times now. That’s a shady way for companies to build hype around a product, and it works. They could have easily estimated how many units to order. Consider the difference between this release and the Fenty Beauty release. For the most part, anyone who wanted any of the Fenty Beauty products had no problems getting what they wanted, when it was released. The Jaclyn Hill collab? Each release sold out within twenty minutes. Four times. I really dislike that sort of shady deal, but it was incredible effective.

Let’s talk about the palette. It’s a very generous palette, with 35 shades, with each pan weighing in at about 1.6 grams. It retails for $38, exclusively on the Morphe website, and dontcha know, it’s actually in stock!! Snark aside, the palette rings up at around 92¢ per pan. Honestly, I don’t know of any reputable brand (maybe elf) that sells eyeshadows that inexpensively.

It is a beautiful palette. Just about any shade you could want, it’s got it. It very much favors the warmer spectrum, with lots of neutrals. There are, though, enough pops of color to be appealing to just about anyone. From what I can tell, there are 16, possibly 15, matte shades 2, maybe 3, satin shades, 13 shimmers, and 3 full-out metallics. That is just from looking at the palette, and my ancient eyes could be deceiving me hehe

These shadows apply like a dream! They are very soft, without creating much, if any kick-up. They are incredibly pigmented, especially when you consider the price! I have been playing with this palette for several weeks. I wanted to be able to give more than a first impression. I wanted to be able to give you my full and complete thoughts. For today’s photos, I went with a more bold look than I usually wear.

To start with, I ran Silk Creme over the entire lid. I then used Pooter as my transition shade, with Jacz as my crease shade. If you cannot tell from the photos, Jacz is a deep reddish-brown. I used Cranapple on the outer half of my lid, and Faint on the inner half. I put a thin line of Abyss along my upper lash line, as you would an eyeliner. I also ran Jacz on my lower lash-line, with a bit of Abyss on top.

When I took the above photos, I had been wearing the shadows for about 5 hours, at least. They look great! Well … sort of. They wore on my lids incredibly well, in my opinion. On my lower lash-line, however, Abyss had smudged and kind of smeared. It definitely didn’t wear as well as the other shades. With the other eye looks I chose while testing this, I don’t recall the other shades smearing and smudging like Abyss did. For the other looks, I put whatever shade I used in my crease as my lower lash color.

Honestly, that is the only downside I have found with this palette. This is my only experience with Morphe products, and I have to say I am impressed. I have heard others’ experiences to be a mixed bag. As I said above, the shadows are wonderfully soft and blend so, so well. I think better experienced makeup lovers and the earliest of beginners, alike, will have absolutely no trouble using this palette. In fact, I would heartily recommend this for those guys and gals just starting their makeup journey. Aside from one shade getting smudgy, I simply found no drawbacks.

Okay, those are my thoughts! What about y’all? Have any of  y’all tried the Jaclyn Hill X Morphe collaboration? Did you have the same experience I did? Lemme know! I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Try~It Tuesday ~ Eyeliner Stencils

Hey hey hey, y’all! Hope everyone is having a fine Tuesday! I’m undecided about mine haha I went to bed this morning at 4:30 and woke up around 11:30 and that just totally messed my day up. I have no idea why I couldn’t go to sleep last night, but I just couldn’t. That’s not true, I do know why I couldn’t sleep. My dog, Pippin, who is as close to a soul mate to me that an animal can be, was acting very bizarre last night. All of the sudden, he just started crying, either when walking or standing. He couldn’t jump up onto my bed, and when he was lying down, he had his head in my closet, or he would wedge himself under my bed. And when I say crying, I mean it sounded like someone was trying to murder him. I ran my hands along his body, to see if I got a reaction from him and there was nothing. I couldn’t feel anything that seemed out of sorts. There was nothing I could do except see how he was in the morning and then call the vet. Whatever was bothering him seems to have completely vanished, because he’s perfectly fine this morning, able to jump on my bed and chase squirrels at full speed. I was wondering if he wasn’t playing around, to be honest. I had an episode last night with my foot joints. I was in excruciating pain and my hubby had to actually help me back into the house, because I couldn’t put any pressure on my foot at all. About half way to the couch is when Pippin started crying. We thought he was being empathetic with me and my pain, but then he got so bad with it last night, I was sure he was legitimately injured. Then this morning, he was miraculously healed. I’m back to thinking it was empathy haha

Needless to say, I am bone tired, so I thought I would test out an easy product today. I ordered these stencils from Wish, and anyone in the States knows that ordering from there is really gambling haha Most of the products come from China, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but you may not get what you ordered. It’s just the nature of Wish hahaha Now, I have the worst luck when it comes to applying winged liner. It’s almost like my hands forget how to function. It’s truly sad haha When I saw these stencils I just knew my winged liner prayers had been answered!! Well, be careful what you wish for y’all haha

There are no instructions. I understand that stencils are a bit self-explanatory, but they don’t even indicate which stencil will give you a classic look, thin, cat or extravagant. The double eyeliner and fishtail are pretty easy to pick out, but the others? Ha! Just gonna have to wing it … hehe get it … wing it?

You don’t have to look hard to see the skepticism on my face. These are quite sticky, which is good, as far as getting good lines. There is no way you could put these on once you have eyeshadow on, though, and applying eyeshadow after liner is just crazy. These will, undoubtedly, pull off your eyeshadow. I also wonder if they would even stick like you’d need them to, if you’ve done your shadow first. Also, if you have done your face makeup, there’s a good chance of messing that up, depending on how far out you go with the stencil.

However, if you just want to wear eyeliner, these might not be a bad product.

These photos are before I went in to “clean up” the lines. I’m still pretty skeptical, at this point.

Okay, okay, it’s still doesn’t look great. And the time it takes to put the stencil on, readjust and readjust again … it just doesn’t seem worth it to me. This package was only a $1, or it may have even been free with $1 shipping. I still don’t think the stencils are worth it, unless you absolutely cannot do any sort of upper eyeliner at all. By the time you are ready to apply the liner on one eye, you could have had both eyes done and been heading out the door. I’m certain there’s a learning curve to using these, and if you wanted to do a fancy look, like double liner, or the fishtail liner, these might have a place in your makeup bag. Might. I’m sure there is someone out there who could find these stencils useful. It’s just not me.

Have y’all tried any products to help up your makeup game? Eyeliner stencils? Haha lemme know!

Makeup Monday ~ I Want Kandee eyeshadow palette

Phew, y’all … it has been a rough week or so at my house. I’m going to guess that I am in a crazy flare, because I have felt horrendous. I have been sleeping 15-18 hours a day and have been having crazy intense back spasms. For a week. I had a brief respite when I got my hair done, but even that day, the spasms started before I left the salon. Ooooh, you guys haven’t seen my hair yet!

In case it wasn’t obvious, I’m not all that conventional haha I dialed it wayyyyy back while our daughter was in school. She went to a small private school, and those parents/teachers can be just as nasty as the kids, oftentimes. I didn’t want our daughter affected because I’m kooky. She doesn’t really live with us most of the year now, so I feel … un-beholden, if you will. I was that girl in high school with the partially shaved head, purple hair, with combat boots. Okay, back to my week. I haven’t felt that bad in a long, long time. Funny enough, it wasn’t my RA that was giving me such a fit. I’m going to chalk it up to a fibro flare. It’s all I’ve got haha I am relieved to be feeling so much better. Five hour naps aren’t that awesome, despite what you might think.

Before my body decided to betray me last week, I put in an order with Ulta and one of the things I needed that week was the I Want Kandee eyeshadow palette collab between Kandee Johnson and Too Faced. I hadn’t really watched her YouTube videos before the collab, so I thought I would check her out (you can find her channel here). She is so freaking adorable!! What a positive little corner of YouTube and that is so needed within that beauty community!! There are several products in the collaboration, but I was most interested in the eyeshadows. If y’all could see my palette collection, you’d tell me I was crazy for ordering even more. What can I say? I really like eyeshadow! Let’s jump on in, y’all …

Can we talk about the packaging real quick? This has to be the most adorable packaging I have ever seen! And yes, the shadows do smell like candy hahaha They look like little chocolates on the back!!! I almost can’t stand how cute this is! The back has the shadows separated into how Kandee imagined them being used (from what I heard). They are separated into quads, with a highlight color for each. Of course, you don’t have to stick with that. It’s makeup … do whatever you want, however you want!

Here’s the look I came up with for today:

(Disregard my lip look … I clearly had some trouble with application. I am on the fence with that shade.)

Here’s what I did for this look … I took the highlight shade Banana Cream Pie and put it over the entire eye area, over my eyeshadow primer. I used Raspberry Cocoa in the crease, with Hot Chocolate in the outer “v” to deepen the look just a bit. I used a combination of my finger and a dampened flat shader brush to apply Sugar Plum on the inner 2/3 of my lid. I used Hot Chocolate again on the lower lash line, and added Licorice Rope to line the upper lash line. That’s it! I really like this look and I can see myself returning to this combination.

Now, for the question on everyone’s minds … how does it perform? Beautifully, honestly. I have never used a Too Faced product before this and I am quite pleased. The shadows are nicely pigmented and yet they blend very well. They also have great staying power. The day I got my hair done, I opted to use this palette. It was the first time I used it. I would say it was probably on my eyes a minimum of eight hours (four and a half of those at the salon) and the pigment had not diminished in the slightest. I also forgot eyeshadow primer that day, so that’s really saying something! The shimmers perform best when dampened or with your finger, but that’s nearly every shimmer I have ever used. It seems the “matte” shades have a few specks of glitter when you see them in the pan, but that does not translate to the lid. I haven’t noticed any kickback, nor does there appear to be any fallout.

I think it’s fairly clear how I feel about this palette. Not only are the shadows pigmented and easily blendable, but I think the price is quite fair. There are 15 shadows, and the palette sells for $45 (through Ulta or the Too Faced website). That works out to $3 per shadow. 12 of them weigh in at 1 gram (0.04 ounces), and the three highlight shades are 2 grams (0.07 ounces). That’s a decent amount. Just as a comparison, the pans in Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Modern Renaissance palette contain 1/2 gram, or 0.02 ounces. There are 12 shades in that palette and it runs $42 at Sephora. The pans in I Want Kandee are double the size for three more dollars.

Have you guys tried this palette yet? How about Too Faced, how do y’all feel about their products? Lemme know!

Skincare Saturday … on a Sunday

Happy Monday eve, y’all! Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Mine has been pretty blah. I had to go into town on Friday afternoon, and it basically ruined my weekend. It takes so much out of me, these days, to complete the simplest of tasks. I had to pick up my truck from the repair shop, for the final time, let’s all hope. Then, I ran to the pharmacy, the story of my life when I’m in town, ran into Sephora, got gas, then hung out with some friends. I was in town a whopping four hours. I didn’t sleep well Friday night, which means my need for sleep on Saturday was insane. There are times when I truly hate this disease more than others, and this weekend has been one of those times. I did get some pretty cool things at Sephora, though, which almost makes it worth it. Almost …

I did get an incredible skin care product Friday, but I’m not quite ready to talk about it with y’all. Let me use it for the next week, and it’ll be the focus of next Saturday’s post, that’ll actually go up on Saturday haha, hopefully. I do want to tell you guys about a great mask I ordered earlier this week from Ulta. You may or may not know, but we are currently in Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty sale. That’s a special time of year when truly awesome products are deeply discounted for one day only, and there are 21 days of such deals. Not only that, but there are side deals all throughout the sale. While I was checking out the side deals, I came across The Body Shop’s British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask.

I think I may have mentioned that I have a thing for roses and rose scented products. That means that, of course, this went into my shopping basket, without hesitation. I don’t think I even looked at what it claimed to do hahaha It arrived a few days ago, just in time for Skincare Saturday! (Ignore my ghastly manicure in these photos. I have since remedied that situation. Also, I’m human … my nails are not 100% perfect, 100% of the time.)

So here’s the lovely little jar. It was $28 for 2.6 oz of product. Clearly, this one not one of the side sale items. It is 100% vegetarian and is made without parabens, silicone, mineral oils or paraffins. I don’t see any cruelty-free notations, which is unfortunate. Let’s talk about the claims … rose petal and essence of hand-picked British roses to freshly replenish the skin’s water reserves, rosehip oil from Chile which is rich in Omegas 3 and 6, to help tone skin and Community Trade Organic aloe vera from Mexico, which is known for its calming and soothing skin care properties. The box goes on to say that skin is instantly replenished with moisture, feels ultra smooth, silky soft and toned. With continued use, you can expect a dewy, youthful glow. Starting with a clean, wet face, smooth a thin layer onto the skin, avoiding the eyes and lips. Can be applied to the neck and décolleté, a well. Leave on 5-10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. I believe I was distracted, and left mine on for 15 minutes, without ill effect. Distracted is my middle name hehe

You can actually see roses in the gel! That was the second thing I noticed. The first was the heavenly scent. It’s not perfume-y, by any means. It smells like a tub of roses, and it’s divine. It was very easy to rinse off, and just the faintest hint of rose smell lingered for a few minutes. I didn’t take before and after photos, because it’s too hard to see results with a face mask. Results are intended to be seen with time, not immediately.

I have to say, though, my skin did appear a bit plumper and a bit healthier. Especially around my eye/upper cheek area. The box says this can be used 2-3 times per week, or daily, if desired. While I don’t think daily is necessary for my skin, I can see this being a part of my nightly skin care routine 2-3 times per week. Maybe on the nights I don’t use the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask.

To say I am happy with this mask would be a huge understatement. It would be perfect if it were cruelty-free. That is pretty much the only downside I am seeing right now. I will have to see how long it takes to use the entire jar, using it 2-3 times a week, to determine if the cost is justified. If it lasts two months, then yeah, I can see this having a permanent place in my routine.

Okay y’all, have any of you used this mask before? Or any other products from The Body Shop? Do you like what you’ve used? Lemme know!
