Phew … happy Tuesday, y’all! I hope everyone made it through Irma unscathed. All of my friends and family in FL, GA and SC are all safe and secure. Most of them in FL are without power and may be for some time. A lot of trees came down, and that makes restoring power more difficult because they have to clear the debris so they can get to the power lines. Mad props to the linemen out there, working night and day, to get everyone up and running again. In my area, about 1200 people lost power yesterday. I never lost power, but it rained and the wind howled for over 18 hours. My poor fur babies barked nonstop, I think. Let’s all hope that Irma was the last of the US storms for the season!
Funny enough, I received a delivery from Sephora yesterday. I don’t know why I thought our local delivery services would not be out and about yesterday, but they were! Sometimes, a makeup product can be so crazy that it fits the theme of Try~It Tuesday perfectly. I think Ciaté London’s Glitter Flip is one of those products. I have seen several YouTube videos and I sit, stunned and amazed, every single time! Finally, a truly innovative makeup product! Lately, it seems companies have kind of lost their inspiration. There’s nothing truly new and exciting, really. Well, Ciaté has obviously been hard at work!!
I had to get on the email list at Sephora because these jokers are selling out as fast as they can stock them. I ended up with the shade Candy, which kind of a mauve-y pink. Don’t let the exterior of the box fool you. It’s not a baby pink, like the box is. I really wanted Infamous, as I prefer berry shades. Oh look! It’s finally in stock, and today is 8% cash back through Ebates (affiliate link)! Oh … my poor, poor bank account! Anyway, Candy is a very pretty shade. There is, what appears to be, dark pink and silver glitter in it, when you look at it in the tube. It doesn’t look super glittery, though. Oh, I almost forgot … these are a matte formula. Ciaté’s matte formulas are pretty comfortable, though.
Alrighty … let’s jump on in! The instructions say to apply an even layer and let dry for one minute. At this point, do not rub your lips back and forth to distribute the product. I always do that after applying any lip product, so that will be tough for me not to do. Okay … let’s do this!
This is the product immediately after application. It’s quite matte. Of course, I got a phone call immediately after putting it on, so I was very careful not to press my lips together while I was talking hahaha it’s kind of tough!
I was on the phone longer than a minute, so as soon as I hung up, I went straight to the bathroom and …
The photos are not doing the glitter justice! It’s actually quite beautiful! However, this shade looks awful on me. There’s too much of a grey undertone. I will have to return this to Sephora and see about an exchange. Second, it feels pretty darn chunky on the lips, and I find myself kind of chewing the glitter off. It’s an odd feeling that I am sure I would get used to. I have used the Kat Von D’s Glimmer Veil and it feels so much better than this. Maybe she uses smaller glitter? I dunno, but it does feel … different.
Okay, thoughts … despite it feeling a bit chunky, and not liking the shade against my skin tone, I actually DO like it. I am going to head into Sephora tomorrow and see about exchanging it for the berry shade. It’s been on for about 15 minutes now, and it feels much better than it did immediately after the flip. What do y’all think? Have y’all tried this product yet? Do you like it? Lemme know?
